They need support and healthy ways to cope with the crisis.

Your young adult is just starting college but they are struggling with their independence and confidence. One minute they need you like their child again, desperately seeking advice, support and comfort of home. One minute they want you to leave, and the next they are asking for space and wanting to live their own lives. You are torn between wanting them to be supported and nurtured and wanting them to face the world.

Perhaps you struggle to provide for your family while still meeting your own needs. Maybe your own needs often get overlooked, or pushed aside in sacrifice for everyone else. Perhaps it’s time for you to set better boundaries, to practice self-compassion and to discover who you really are.
